Research paper topics?

I need to write an 8 page paper on any topic of my choice. I need to be able to take a stance with the paper, even though it is a research paper. I don't want to do the normal "controversial" issues such as abortion, assisted suicide, stem cell research...etc. They are written about too often. I want something I can find a decent amount of information on....help!

* How about World Hunger, what progress has been made and what different direction we should take this decade.





* A friend once did one on the history of his home town, compared with others in the same country.





* Ever wanted to improve your memory? Go find out eight different ways, and pick the best.





* Are Electric Cars really the answer? Are Hybrids better?





* What makes peppers spicy and why do some people enjoy them? Are there really clubs for that sort of thing?





*You can also compare two historic events like wars or famine or natural disasters in two different times and places.





*I once did one on the history of the guitar and how its future looks.

A good resource that I always used -- I don't know if you school has it or not -- are the journal databases. Almost always could find some good journal articles on my topic.

Reply:This last summer i wrote my thesis paper for English 102 on animal experimentation. I chose to support animal resaerch and managed to write 14 pages. Even if you disagree and would rather be against research, you would find just as much information. Whatever you chose, make it a topic that you are intrested and passionate about.
