I'm taking Intro to Sociology as a summer class and I have a research project due on the 9th of July. Problem is I can't find a topic to do research on. It can be on anything that has to with sociology, which basically is everything! i have to have at least three sources and it has to be five pages long. I wish i liked this class better!
What topic would be best for my research project?
There are so many things you could choose from. I got these from a website, and I starred ones that may be more interesting. If one of them sparks your interest (or seems like a fairly easy topic to write the paper on), look it up first on wikipedia and then delve into more research both online (through scholarly journal articles) and in books.

Reply:Depends on a lot of factors ... how many pages does it have to be, what is the title of the class you are in, is there a specific focus to the class, etc ...?
You can go to wikipedia.org and look up the following sociologists and see if anything there interests you
Max. Weber
Karl Marx
Alexis de Tocqueville
Emile Durkheim
An easy topic would be an examination of class conflict, and cultural identity ... there are many interpretations, and its very easy to write several pages on the subject.
Reply:I would suggest you to take up research work on the most burning topic of the day, i.e. poverty and solutions to overcome it.
Reply:How about a research project that examines bias in social studies text books?
Reply:how about a controversial topic like immigration and today's society. it would make for very interesting study. get both sides, those for and those against and keep it biased no matter what your opinion is cause you're really just stating facts and opinions of others, and the behaviors associated with both emotions. also, you'll be able to identify the origins of immigration and the governments policies throughout the years from this countries beginings to now that have contributed to either parties ideas and opinions and views on the topic, as well as other factors like media, culture, ideas passed down from generation to generation.
