Help with Research paper on Communicating positivley with the elderly?

I am doing a research paper on communicating with the elderly and can not locate resources to justify it is a large scale social issue. I have access to ebsco host and the internet of course but can not not locate sufficient information to back it. Should I change my research topic?

Perhaps look at journals that deal with the geriatric population such as geropsychiatry (geriatric psych) and techniques and ways to communicate with those that have dementia/alzheimer's or other diseases that make communication for the older person difficult including a past stroke ('brain attack') also called cerebrovascular accident (CVA). And just fyi, an a ruptured aneurysm is basically a stroke as well as how it may impairs the individual and give the same or similar symptoms as those who have had a brain injury from a stroke. And just fyi, a stroke is considered an acquired brain injury (abi) as it's Not from outside force as opposed to a traumatic brain injury (tbi) which is from blunt force.





Perhaps reading up on some of the health issues surrounding the elderly which may make it more difficult to communicate with them may steer you in a certain direction more readily. Also, the quality of staff in long-term nursing facilities can be looked into and the fact that some of the staff may not have had adequate training and education and be overworked with a high patient caseload while the facility may be understaffed. Reply:See if you can find the book "Helping the Patient tell their story" which was published 30 years or so ago. Sorry but I don't remember the author or publisher but I do remember reading it and I think it will help you if you can dig up a copy.
