Great research topics??????????
I wrote a persuasive essay on mandatory steroid testing in high schools. Believe it or not, but it is actually a very controversial topic.

I wrote about schools that have testing and the statistics that show if it really is a deterrent.

I wrote about how easy it is to produce a clean test, even if you take supplements.

I also wrote about non-testing programs to keep kids off supplements, so I could compare the results of testing schools vs. schools with the programs.

It was about 1500 words. I got 100% on it.

There is a lot of information out there.

Good luck!
Reply:Public Education vs. Home Schooling

You can discuss the pros and cons. Be sure to include the education aspect as well as social skills. Think about what resources and facilities that are available to you. Such as clubs, sports, computer technology etc. This is a very hot and debatable topic. Hope this helps!
Reply:This is a pretty cool way of doing it. Most research is quantitatively based, as in science. A new and not so new research field is the qualitative research methodology. What your do is gather a sampling, say high school students and discuss a similar topic. Collect data from each student, stay neutral and then go through the data and look for commonalities. Remember that the interviewee is always kept confidential. State these commonalities and state that they are valid. Discuss why and the variables that might have influenced them. Qualitative and quantitative analysis is a statistical methodology used in PhD programs. It is fun and very insightful.
Reply:I once impressed a History teacher by writing a critique of Plato's Dialogs. They all start out the same, where the lead character, Socrates, starts an argument, and a couple others give him a little back talk, but then they shut up, and Socrates does a long monologue.

I said that The Dialogs were poorly written one act plays, with very little Dialog. The teacher loved it. Maybe it'll work for you, and maybe not. Obviously, Plato was a Greek, and I'd have to know your teacher to be able to tell whether this sort of approach would work.

Can you think of anything else that you have read as part of your English class that you could criticize? You might argue, Hamlet was an indecisive wimp or something like that?
Reply:The No Child Left Behind Act, The teaching of evolution or the teaching of intelligent design in science classes, abstinence only health education in schools.

I don't know about you, but i find stuff like this really interesting but i'm a huge geek like that. Hope it helps
