What is a good topic for a research paper?

I have to write a research paper (or an informative paper) for my English class and I am having a hard time coming up with a topic, any ideas?

What is a good topic for a research paper?
To give your paper a good jumping off point, it's always a good idea to write about something with which you have some degree of familiarity or interest. For example, if you're into insects, and have always wondered how butterflies and moths undergo metamorphosis, that would be good subject matter for your paper. Or if you feel strongly about a subject--say you believe all child molesters should be castrated-- do your paper on that. I did one on embryonic stem cell research that I later forwarded to my Congresswoman and Senators. (I don't recall getting a response, but at least I was able to give them that information.) I don't know if I helped you resolve anything, but hopefully I at least gave you a narrower playing field. All the best on your paper! :-)

Reply:Follow the instructions of your teacher first. Did she suggest any guidelines? If not, pick a subject that interests you. Something about which you would like to learn something or something more than what you already know. If you're still stuck, make a list of whatever comes to mind and select a topic, but keep your list. Remember--your next step is at the library where you will look up information on your topic and see what's available!

Common sense would tell us YES, but there are A LOT of possible motives behind why the Pharma industries will hire scientists to tell us no; (like TRILLIONS of dollars in litigation, if pharmaceutical companies were to be proved negligent; who would make our medicines then?)
